Playing with Harrison

Yesterday family time with low lights and full bellies allowed us feel and ease and play a little. Our hosts have a two young children, Susan (8) and Harrison (6), who love to play despite not knowing a ton of English. Jami and I were just teasing Harrison, poking him and then pointing to someone else as if to blame the person across the room. He giggled and tried the same trick. Then we played the old camp skit where one person is the body while another person hides behind so her arms can be the body’s new arms. It’s a funny game especially with silly activities like brushing your teeth, writing your name, combing your hair, and my favorite, drinking water. Jami (my arms) did pretty well except when it came to drinking water. I should have seen the shower coming but my failure to get any in my mouth was a success in comedy.

After the comedy hour Jami showed Harrison all the cool tricks she could do with her feet. Pinch, write her name, fold napkins- all the typical feet/toe activities. Harrison gave it a try in his new yellow crocs but did as well as I would with bare feet. I can point and flex-but my toenails are painted ☺

Finally we played like we were asleep and Harrison had to wake us up. We curled this way and that on one big chair until Jami eventually fell to the ground- that woke her up. Harrison laughed and laughed as did Susan and any watching from a distance. Our theatre degrees came into handy and so did our silliness degrees. Mom, you should be proud!
